Automotive Brakes:

Theoretical brake calculations can be verified by tests.

The single instruments will be mounted on the supporting frames or attached to the drive unit.

Pedal force, line pressure and wheel braking force (brake power) can be read from the measuring devices.

The drive unit will cut-off automatically when overloaded.

Testing Possibilities:

Connecting brake master cylinder by means of a hose line to the wheel brake cylinder,

Venting of the brake system,

Checking of high-pressure, low-pressure and pre-pressure (with the help of a commercial testing set),

Influence of the power brake unit (brake booster) with vacuum pump on the pedal force,

Braking action at forward driving and reverse movement, leading and trailing brake shoe of the drum brake.

Behaviour of the brake drum and the brake disk at continuous braking (heating-up, fading)

Behaviour of the brake fluid at heating-up.

The universal test stand is equipped as follows

Basic Unit:
Mobile, with two elements frames. Drive unit with two speed ranges for clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation. Engine shaft with flange for mounting the respective instruments with measuring device for forces in N. Electrical switch box with safety device. Measuring device for the braking force. Power supply 400 V, 16 A slow.

Brake master cylinder with brake booster and measuring instrument for the pedal force.

Behaviour of the brake fluld at heating-up
1 disk brake with two-circuit fixed caliper and connection for 2 thermo sensors (diam. of sensor 1.5 mm). Tandem brake master cylinder with two separate expansion tanks. Two pressure manometers, pedal and lever system for the setting of the braking pressure and gauging of the pedal force resp. The first brake circuit filled with DOT 4 brake fluid. The second brake circuit filled with aged DOT 4 brake fluid (containing water).

 Influencing variables and operation principle of a hydraulic brake power controller vvith fixed change-over pressure.

This original pressure-dependent brake power controller - fixed change-over pressure -is mounted on a panel and fully operable.

Hydraulic connections between brake master cylinder and wheel brake cylinders are established by means of hoses with automatically locking valves. (no loss of brake fluid, no bleeding required).

The pressure gauge mounted at the unit shows the rear axle brake pressure.

Note:
The function of the brake power controller can also be established without connection to the rear axle brake.

 

 Influencing variables and operation principle of a load-dependent hydraulic brake power controller 
- variable changeover pressure

This original, load-dependent brake power controller and linkage is mounted on an aluminium panel and fully operable.

The load conditions can be set in little steps between "empty" and "loaded"!

Hydraulic connections between brake master cylinder and wheel brake cylinders are established by means of hoses with automatically locking valves. (No loss of brake liquid, no bleeding required.)

The pressure gauge mounted at the unit shows the rear axle brake pressure.

Note:
The function of the brake power controller can also be established without connection to the rear axle brake.

   Tandem master cylinder
Operating characteristics of the Tandem, Graded and Twintax master cylinder at normal operation and when one of the brake circults falls.

Each master cylinder is equipped with 2 pressure manometers and 2 shut-off valves and is filled with brake fluid ready for operation. The pedal and the lever system for setting the braking pressure are mounted on a printed panel. The fallure of one of the brake circuits will be simulated by opening a shut-off valve. The outflowing fluld will be led back into the tank without leakage.
